The best time to buy a grill
Deals will begin making their appearance the weekend following the 4th of July. The 4th of July marks the last major holiday when grills are widely used. Of course, any grill master knows that there are plenty of good grilling weeks left in the season. You will start seeing some sales during this time. The discounts will start off small and increase as the summer grilling season comes to an end.
You may choose not to head out this weekend to get small discounts on grills. However, it is a good time to start shopping around. You can check out reviews online, compare features, and keep an eye on what is left in stock. Very popular models may sell out quickly. If there is a particular grill that you MUST have, don’t wait until its completely sold out. You can ask a store clerk how many of a certain model are left. Sometimes you can even see how many are left at a store location by checking online.
Deep discounts on grills are usually offered beginning in September when stores are eager to clear them out to replace the space with fall & winter holiday items. Once September hits, the remaining grills tend to clear out quickly. Floor models may also be sold at this time. Floor models often get the regular sale price, plus an additional amount due to its time spent out on the floor. Don’t be afraid to haggle on floor models – most stores are able to offer larger discounts on these types of merchandise. However, be sure to weigh the pros and cons of buying a floor model. Although the grills were not actually used, they were viewed and touched by many customers. Check that all parts are still intact, and no pieces are broken off. Floor models can offer some of the greatest prices, but they typically cannot be returned so be sure to examine them closely.
September is also a good time to purchase a used grill. Many will sell their grills that they don’t plan to use the rest of the year because they intend to buy a new one in the spring. Check fall yard sales and online listings. As with the floor models, you will need to examine these grills closely. Used grills require greater examination since they typically have been used many times over.
The worst time to buy a grill
March through June will be the worst time to purchase a grill if you like a good deal. In March, stores are usually just beginning to get their stock in so not many sales are offered. There may be a few decent sales around Memorial Day. However, the absolute worst time to buy a grill is June. Everyone wants their new grill in time for summer & 4th of July grilling and the stores all know it. Prices tend to be the highest in the month of June. Save yourself some money on your new grill, now is the time to start shopping around!
